The Société des Automobiles Alpine SAS, commonly known as Alpine (French pronunciation: [alpin(ə)]), is a French manufacturer of racing and sports cars established in 1955. The Alpine car marque was created in 1954.

Jean Rédélé, the founder of Alpine, was originally a Dieppe garage proprietor who began to achieve success in motorsport with one of the few French cars that were produced just after the Second World War, the Renault 4CV. The company has been closely related to Renault through its history, and was bought by it in 1973

The Alpine competition department merged into Renault Sport in 1976 and the production of Alpine-badged models ceased in 1995. The Alpine brand was relaunched with the 2017 introduction of the new Alpine A110. In January 2021, as part of a company revamp, Renault announced that Renault Sport was again merged into Alpine to form an Alpine business unit.

So it comes as no surprise that the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo explores the key Alpine themes of agility, pleasure and style to the hilt.

Agility is a defining characteristic of the road behavior of an Alpine. Alpine cars are designed to bring drivers at-the-wheel pleasure at all times and have a particular way with corners. The heady pleasure felt on board an Alpine stems from the feeling of being one with the machine. With their limited mass, Alpines respond instantly and seamlessly to the driver’s input. "The name Alpine A450 stood out as a natural choice for this prototype which will contest the ELMS and the Le Mans 24 Hours. It pays tribute to the A441, A442 and A443 which raced at and - in the case of the A442B - won at Le Mans in the 1970s. The figure '50' symbolises the fiftieth anniversary of Alpine's first official entry for the Le Mans 24 Hours."
The Alpine A450 will be the very first car of the brand to take part in an official race at Silverstone.
Signatech-Alpine's Team Principal Philippe Sinault is eager to see his drivers in action: "I'm thrilled to be in the exciting last stages of preparing for the Alpine A450's debut in the European Le Mans Series. The news of this project got a warm reception in France and elsewhere. We had very little time to prepare for the season but our efforts have already born fruit, thanks notably to our very close collaboration with Michelin. Our first tests were very constructive, but only the race itself can confirm whether our work has been good enough."
